Jan 04

Well, I’m reaching entirely new plateaus of slacking in 2004. I have to say I’m quite proud of myself. I should be looking at scripting stuff right now, but I am lazy and it’s hard. I bought a pair of pretty pants today – just some adidas ones to wear around the house because the Nike ones I bought a couple years ago just aren’t very good and our store had a big sale. The Powerbook is happy after a brief font issue (a particular installed (corrupt?) font was preventing Safari from working at all), but I don’t honestly think it’s enough to be my main system. I like it for now, but I’ve officially made the decision to buy a G5 in a year. That will give me time to recover my funds and I won’t feel like I’m spending way too much money at once. I am, however, going to buy a cinema display if it’s the last thing I do. And it very well may be, if Apple delays their updates (there’s talk of the casing being changed to aluminum-esque to match the G5 and Powerbook – I want that) for any longer. First there was nothing good at MWSF and now they’ve completely ignored the 20th Anniversary of the Mac. 2004 is shaping up to be a boring year, so far.

On a non-related subject we move in 30 days. I am more than a little excited. I can’t wait to be in a much, much larger place than we are now. I’d also really like to know what happened to my remote, because it’s not on my desk. It makes me sad because it does lots of important things, like tell me what CD is what in my very large CD player. I guess I am done now because the laptop is melting my lap top.

I’m kidding.

iLife 04

So the Colts and the Eagles are watching the Super Bowl from home. It’s sad, they are the two I was wanting to see there. If I went to a football game I would want to be whatever animal the team was. I could have worn the horse to the Colts game. But anyway, iLife 04 – from what I can tell, not much of a difference. I have yet to use iMovie/iDVD, but GarageBand is a little tedious for me – I don’t currently have the desire to spend that money on a keyboard (although I think it could be fun eventually), because I’d rather buy a TV. I am not linking because I am lazy, but February may bring an overhauled site if I can settle on a happy look. We’ll see.

OK, bye.

So, seriously, I got the Powerbook Monday. I love it, I really do. I am a bona fide switcher. I have to say that at this point, though, I have reached a new low point – I am watching the Simple Life reunion. Why, why, why? I guess it’s better than that Donald Trump show.

I suppose it would’ve been better to post this on the actual day, but I didn’t. I got my Powerbook. I’m a switcher. That’s that.

A Lot More Nothing

So I was able to see the majority of the Apple Keynote from MacWorld via webcast. I was really excited about this initially for all the effort it took me to make it work it really wasn’t worth it in the end. Many on SpyMac agreed that it was one of the worst keynotes ever. There just wasn’t anything good. Sure, GarageBand is cool and something I may potentially use, and the iPod mini (not worth linking to) is OK, but it is really expensive. The real disappointment was the complete lack of “wow”. There were no updates to any of the PC’s, laptop or desktop, and the much-anticipated monitor updates were also nowhere to be found. That said, I went ahead and ordered my Powerbook! The only add-ons I got were the Airport Extreme card and the 80 Gb hard disk in lieu of the standard 40. Naturally, I am pretty excited and counting down the days until it gets here. I sprung for the 2-day air because, when you’re paying $100 for sales tax, $15 just isn’t that much more. I am only a little miffed that I won’t be getting iLife ‘04 with it, but I can get it later for $20 so that’s not bad. I am this close to being an Apple owner and that’s awesome. I also bought some RAM so she’ll run nice and smooth. If all goes as it should I will be typing this on an Apple by next Friday. More excitement: I figured it couldn’t hurt to pick up an N64 so we can play Mario Kart. I also managed to qualify myself (by spending more money) for the Zelda Bonus Disc that’s currently shipping with the GameCubes, so that will be fun too. I now officially have enough video games for the rest of my life, or at least until Gran Turismo 4 comes out.

As we speak I am watching Castaway and contemplating switching this site over to tables. MacWorld tomorrow – WHOOOO!
